Cadillac will discontinue its plug-in ELR luxury vehicle after the current generation, a spokesman has confirmed.

"We will not invest in a major new edition or generation of ELR," saidDavid Caldwell, a Cadillac spokesman. "But ELR in current form remains available with no changes announced."

The ELR debuted with the 2014 model year with a $76,000 price tag. It used a powertrain similar to the Chevrolet Volt and offered a range of 340 miles. It was offered again as a 2016 model-year vehicle.
