The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Energy launched an incentive program that will call for up to 10% of car fleets of federal ministries and agencies to be electric vehicles.
The program is designed to encourage motorists to buy new zero-carbon-emissions electric vehicles through alternative vehicle insurance plans and registration, attractive EV car prices, and more, according to Gulf News.
Suhail Al Mazroui, minister of energy in the UAE, said an upswing in access to cost-effective electrics cars will see more such vehicles in both the private sector and the government sector.
The program, dubbed “Incentives for Using Electric Vehicles,” will also educate potential electric vehicle buyers on the benefits of going green to reduce greenhouse gases in the UAE.
