Homemade heavy hauler: ’96 Peterbilt 377 gets the job done

Harris (1) Corsicana, Texas, resident Randy Harris re-built this 1996 Peterbilt 377 a few years ago into a heavy hauler, Harris says. He added special inserts, a new steer axle, a new transmission, a fourth axle, a double-locking fifth wheel and a nine-ton winch. He pulls seven-axle beam trailers, he says, “making a total of 11 axles.” He uses the rig to haul construction equipment like cranes, loaders, excavators and drills. The truck is powered by a 3406E Cat and a 10-speed transmission.
