U.S. Xpress Logistics, the logistics and brokerage division for the nation’s fifth-largest truckload company, announced it has chosen MacroPoint as its third-party freight tracking solution. MacroPoint is built to work on any cell phone, even a standard flip phone, allowing U.S. Xpress Logistics to receive real-time location updates without relying on driver check calls.

“Since 2009, our brokerage division has grown aggressively and now accounts for nearly 15 percent of U.S. Xpress Inc.’s entire book of business,” said Ryan Rogers, chief operating officer of U.S. Xpress Logistics. “Due to this rapid growth, we needed to quickly find a solution capable of delivering visibility regardless of our carrier partners. With MacroPoint’s promise of automated location updates, we have gained an advantage that truly sets us apart from other logistics and brokerage companies.”

After hearing about the advantages of MacroPoint, U.S. Xpress Logistics initially decided to try MacroPoint on a small limited trial basis. The company said it quickly was impressed by MacroPoint’s ability to deliver automated location updates, regardless of the carrier’s phone or in-cab tracking technology, and it decided to roll out the load tracking solution across its entire brokerage division.

“What really impressed us was MacroPoint’s ease of use,” Rogers said. “It integrates directly with our TMS system. This level of automated visibility gives us the peace of mind that comes from always knowing the status of a load without ever needing to make a single driver check call.”
