Trucking rap sheet: Trucker charged for threatening FMCSA inspector, HHG movers’ scheme busted

A truck driver has been indicted on charges of making a threat to a federal employee following repeated phone calls in which he threatened an FMCSA inspector with bodily injury in retaliation for issuing him a fine.

Nebraska-based Ronald Mockelman was charged in U.S. District Court March 11, the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General announced this week.

An FMCSA inspector had issued Mockelman a fine for violating federal safety regulations, the OIG says.


Mockelman also allegedly made threatening phone calls to an agency office in Illinois, too, the DOT says.


Household goods movers busted in theft scheme


Also announced this week was the indictment two men who had allegedly been running a theft scheme under the guise of household goods movers.

Tashee Pickett and Shedrick Giles were charged with conspiracy, interstate transportation of stolen property and forfeiture related to a scheme to rob customers of their household goods, according to the DOT’s OIG.

Pickett owns and operates J and P Moving out of Sumter, S.C. The company “purported to provide moving services…to ship [household goods] from one location to another,” the OIG says, but they would instead steal the goods.


J&P also did not have operating authority to transport household goods.
