The Truckload Carriers Association has named Jack Yancer a TCA Highway Angel.
Yancer passed away while helping someone in the course of his job on the road. On May 21, 2014, he had been driving on I-70 in Indianapolis when he saw a car get hit and flipped by a drunk driver.

He parked his tractor trailer safely on the side of the road and got out to try to make sure everyone was safe and attempt to direct traffic. Unfortunately, he was struck by another vehicle and died immediately.
The accident victim, a breast cancer survivor, was quoted in the local newspaper saying, “God bless [Yancer’s] family. They ought to be proud because he’s a hero to me. A lot of people wouldn’t stop to try and see if you’re OK. But he did. He cared enough.”
Highway Angels are normally presented with a certificate, patch, truck decal and lapel pin. In this case, the materials were sent to the nominator, the president of a trucking company who is friends with Yancer’s brother. On behalf of Yancer, the company president presented the materials to his brother.
