Truck operator Vijaydeep Sahasi kept a woman who had a heart attack alive for 30 minutes while waiting on responders. Here’s his story:
On Aug. 22, 2014, Vijaydeep Sahasi, driving for Bison Transport of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passes a distressed motorist trying to flag him down.
Sahasi stops and learns from the panicked man that his wife is having a heart attack!
Sahasi calls 911. The operator tells him and her husband to lay the lady on the ground.
The operator instructs Sahasi in CPR, and he keeps the victim alive, even though her heart beat keeps failing. An exhausted Sahasi begs onlookers to relieve him during the 30-minute wait for responders, but they decline.
As the woman is loaded into the ambulance, her husband is overwhelmed with gratitude. At the hospital she is stabilized and survives.
The Truckload Carriers Association named Vijaydeep Sahasi a Highway Angel, and Overdrive names him a Knight of the Road.
