The Rapid, a transit authority in Grand Rapids, Mich., has added four propane autogas shuttle buses to its GO!Bus paratransit service, ROUSH CleanTech announced.

The new vehicles, which are built on a Ford E-450 chassis and include ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fueling systems, are expected to reduce emissions, save on fuel costs, and provide a quieter ride for customers, the alternative-fuel vehicle manufacturer said. Each vehicle is expected to emit an estimated 91,307 fewer pounds of carbon dioxide over its lifetime compared to conventionally fueled counterparts, according to ROUSH CleanTech.

GO!Bus is available for seniors and people with disabilities who cannot ride fixed route services. It uses smaller, cutaway vehicles for door-to-door trips.

The service is operated under a contract with MV Transportation, which operates and maintains the service. The fueling station is located at the GO!Bus facility, so vehicles can be fueled on-site as part of their daily maintenance.
