Diesel prices up for fifth week in a row

For the fifth week in a row, diesel prices rose in the week ending May 18 with the national price of a gallon of on-highway diesel increasing 2.6 cents over the previous week.

The U.S.’ average price for a gallon of diesel is now $2.904, which is $1.03 lower than the same week last year.

Prices increased in all regions of the country during the week. New England saw the least significant price increase, with prices only rising two-tenths of a cent. The Midwest region saw the most significant increase of 4.3 cents.

California still holds the top spot for most expensive diesel at $3.268 per gallon, followed by the Central Atlantic region at $3.158.

The country’s cheapest diesel is in the Midwest region at $2.791, followed by the Gulf Coast region at $2.793.
