Volkswagen is introducing the Car-Net platform that will allow Apple Watch users to control vehicle features and functions from their wrists.
The Car-Net app for Apply Watch will allow owners to remotely unlock and lock doors, locate their vehicle and also send vehicle speed and boundary alert notifications to monitor certain drivers, according to the automaker.
Car-Net also allows drivers to check the diagnostics and vehicle maintenance, and will send alerts when services are needed.
Volkswagen didn’t disclose when the release date will be for the new app.
The connected-car technology will be available on select trims of Beetle, CC, Eos, Jetta, Passat and Tiguan models in 2014. For the 2015 model year, Volkswagen will add it to the Golf, GTI, Golf R, Golf SportWagen and e-Golf models.
