ASA Electronics is recalling 2,181 Voyager rear-view cameras (model number VCMS140i) because a defect may result in reversing the display image, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
Such a mirror image – an object on the right will appear to be on the left and vice versa – may result in the driver turning the wrong direction to avoid hitting an object behind the vehicle, NHTSA said.
The cameras in question were manufactured from Nov. 25, 2014, to April 14 of this year.
ASA dealers will replace the backup camera, free of charge. Owners can reach ASA customer service at (800) 384-4400.
