Gasoline Prices Fall to $2.74 Per Gallon

The price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell 5.7 cents to $2.745 for the week ending July 27, according to federal records.

The national average gasoline price is now 79.4 cents lower than it was a year ago, and fell in eight of the nine regions tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The Midwest region saw the sharpest one-week decline of 8.8 cents to $2.583. The Rocky Mountain region saw the only increase during the week of 1.5 cents to $2.856.

Among state prices, California is at the top of the AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report at $3.829 per gallon. Six other states have gasoline that costs at least $3 per gallon. South Carolina remains the cheapest gasoline at $2.327, and 10 other states have gasoline prices below $2.50 per gallon.

Meanwhile, the average price of diesel rose 5.9 cents to $2.723. Diesel is now $1.135 lower than it was a year ago.
