An ambulance fleet of 149 vehicles was presented by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, who said the primary goal of this new fleet is to reach patients in rural areas that have difficult weather and muddy off-road conditions, reports Peru This Week.
The nation’s Health Ministry has spent 44.48 million soles ($15.95 million) on this project that will improve the coverage of emergency services.
The fleet includes 135 rural ambulances that will be deployed across 19 regions, and 14 emergency vehicles that will belong to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), according to Peru This Week.
