TDOT suspends all construction-related lane closures on interstates/state routes from 12am Thursday (7/2) through 6am Monday (7/6).

As the Tennessee Department of Transportation tweet above, echoed by several state DOTs around the nation, shows, the July 4 weekend is a favorable one for truckers when it comes to the dearth of orange cones and barrels to dodge.
Traffic, on the other hand, you can expect to build as motorists travel to join family and friends in disparate locales to celebrate — and oh those unpredictable four-wheelers on the back end of the holiday festivities…
How do you celebrate the 4th? Drop a note in the comments and we’ll round up the responses in a later post.
Meantime, an update on new road work set for next week…
Michigan
U.S. Highway 23 at I-96 in Livingston County, will see overnight closures July 8 and 9 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each following morning. Crews will be reportedly placing beams for the new I-96 bridge over northbound US-23.

**NB US 23 ramp to WB I-96
**EB I-96 ramp to NB US 23
When the freeway and ramps are closed a detour will be posted that uses Kensington Road and WB I-96. All work, MDOT says, is weather dependent. If any night gets rained out, the work and closures will get pushed to the following night.
