Volvo Recalls XC90 SUVs for Air Bag

Volvo is recalling 584 2016 model-year XC90 SUVs because the front-seat, side-impact air bag may not deploy properly in a crash.

The problem is tied to potentially faulty routing of the front-seat wiring harness for the side-impact protection system, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. Damaged wiring might disable the front-seat, side-impact air bag.

To address the issue, Volvo dealers will inspect the routing of the side-impact protection system wiring harness and make any necessary repairs. Those might include correcting the routing and installing a protective sleeve. There will be no charge for these services.

The recall is expected to begin in July. Vehicle owners can reach Volvo at (800) 458-1552. Volvo’s number for this recall is R89571.
