Dodge Chargers Recalled for Air Bag Issue

FCA US is recalling 284,153 Dodge Chargers in the 2011-2014 model years because some air bags might unexpectedly deploy – a defect arising from faulty side-impact sensor calibrations, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The recall covers Dodge Chargers manufactured from May 6, 2010, to June 5, 2014. In these cars, the side-impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive. As a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy, and the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate, NHTSA said.

Dodge dealers will update the occupant restraint control module calibration, free of charge, to resolve the problem.

Vehicle owners can reach FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) customer service at (800) 853-1403. FCA US’s number for this recall is R35.
