Nissan Recalls Maxima for Fire Risk

Nissan North America is recalling 5,458 2016 model-year Nissan Maxima sedans so dealers can address a fuel leak-related fire risk, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The problem is linked to an improperly installed o-ring. It may not have been seated correctly during assembly, so fuel might leak in the event of a crash. This potential fuel leak would occur where the fuel-sending unit attaches to the fuel tank, NHTSA said.

The recall affects cars manufactured from March 19 to June 2 of this year.

Maxima owners affected by the recall can reach Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
