VIDEO: OnStar Helps Rescue Kidnapped Federal Agent
General Motors recently recognized a major milestone for safety and connection services subsidiary OnStar – the 1 billionth customer request.
OnStar now averages about 5 million calls a month from its subscriber base of more than 7 million. OnStar also responds to another 8.8 million interactions a month from the RemoteLink mobile app.
"OnStar created the original connected car in 1996 and today remains at the forefront of innovation through the services offered in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and soon Opel vehicles around the globe,” said Alicia Boler-Davis, senior vice president for GM global connected customer experience.
OnStar launched on three Cadillac models back in 1996. Today, subscribers interact with the service by phone, mobile app or embedded cellular service in their cars and trucks.
Since its launch, OnStar has delivered emergency services 5.5 million times and provided roadside assistance more than 3.9 million times. More than 350 stolen vehicles have been slowed down to aid vehicle recovery.
