Wheels Wins Another American Business Award for Recall Communications Program

Wheels’ Recall Communications service provides an enhanced notification system that makes it easy for the company’s clients and their drivers to keep tabs on an ever-growing list of auto manufacturer recalls.

The program earned a Bronze “Stevie” in the Transportation category at the American Business Awards gala held on September 11 in San Francisco. The service also won a Stevie earlier this year as part of a specialty American Business Awards event that was specifically aimed at honoring achievements in customer service.

“There were more vehicles recalled in 2014 than any other year in history,” said Gail Wheeler, Wheels’ assistant vice president of marketing. “It’s become quite clear that vehicle recalls will continue to have a bigger effect than ever before on motorists all over the globe.

“So at Wheels, we tasked ourselves with developing an automated system that proactively identifies the vehicles in our clients’ fleets that may be impacted by each recall, and provides the communication processes necessary to ensure driver awareness and action.”

Wheeler said the recall service, which is part of Wheels’ award-winning Maintenance Assistance Program, provides drivers with automated e-mails that alert them to recall campaigns that may affect their specific vehicles. Drivers also have access to live-person assistance for scheduling recall-related repairs and services at authorized maintenance facilities.

Wheels’ clients can use the program to view recall notifications, and also run on-demand reports that show them which drivers have (or haven’t) had their vehicles serviced as part of the open recalls campaigns.

“Clients have said the Recall Communications program not only relieves a significant administrative burden, it also gives them the peace of mind of knowing that their drivers are aware of recalls and are equipped to take appropriate action,” Wheeler said. “Moreover, because manufacturers typically provide recall-related repairs at no charge, the service has helped clients significantly lower their maintenance costs by better ensuring that they’re servicing vehicles before defective parts lead to bigger maintenance issues.”

The American Business Awards (also known as “The Stevies”) are the world’s premier business awards, featuring entrants from all types of businesses across the country.

“We are extremely impressed with the quality of the entries we received this year. The competition was intense and every organization that won should be proud,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. “To those outstanding individuals and organizations that received Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Awards, the judges and I are honored to celebrate your many accomplishments. You are setting a high standard for professionals nationwide.”

The American Business Awards organization said it received more than 3,300 nominations from organizations in virtually every industry this year, with winners being selected by a panel of more than 200 business executives worldwide.

The American Business Awards gala held in San Francisco on September 11 was the second part of the organization’s main awards event for 2015. Winners in a number of other Stevie categories were announced during a June 22 award event in Chicago, at which Wheels took home a Silver Stevie in the Best Interface Design category for its revamped DriverView online portal for fleet drivers.
