After flooding closed both north- and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 95 yesterday morning near Beatty, Nev., northwest of Las Vegas, crews were able to reopen one lane of traffic with a pilot car operation on the road by around 6:30 p.m. local time, reports the Nevada Department of Transportation. By 7 p.m., however, the road was shut down due to a fire at U.S. Ecology in Beatty.
The state has since established an Emergency Operations Center. The highway remained closed until further notice. U.S. 93, which splits from I-15 slightly northeast of Las Vegas, is a suggested alternate route. For current road information, go to NVroads.com.
