General Motors is partnering with LG Electronics on its battery-electric Chevrolet Bolt by including an array of components from the supplier, including the electric motor, battery pack, and infotainment system.

GM plans to begin production of the Bolt in late 2016 as the first longer-range affordable EV. The vehicle is expected to deliver a 200-mile range on a single charge and cost about $30,000.

GM is deepening its partnership with LG, which supplied the lithium-ion battery cells for the first-generation Cevrolet Volt, the automaker has announced. LG will supply the electric drive motor based on a GM design, power inverter module that converts DC power to AC for the drive unit, on-board charger, electric climate control compressor, battery cells and pack, high power distribution module that manages the flow of high voltage, battery heater, accessory power module that maintains low-voltage power delivery to accessories, power line communication module that manages communication between the vehicle and DC charging station, instrument cluster, and infotainment system.

LG has been supplying components to GM since 2007, when it began providing the vehicle communications module for OnStar.
