Honda Civic Redesigned for 2016

Honda's 2016 Civic enters its 10th generation with a new base four-cylinder engine that helps the compact car achieve an EPA-rated 35 mph fuel economy in highway driving.

The 2016 Civic also offers a turbocharged 1.5L DOHC direct-injected engine, in addition to the 2.0L DOHC port-injected i-VTEC engine. 

The base model, Civic LX sedan 2.0L with a 6-speed transmission is priced at $19,475 and the sedan with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) is $20,275 the Civic EX sedan 2.0L is $21,875, Civic EX-T sedan 1.5L Turbo $23,035, the Civic EX-L 1.5L Turbo $24,535, and the Civic Touring sedan 1.5L Turbo for $27,335. Prices include destination fees of $835. Apart from the base model, all other models include a CVT.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released fuel economy ratings of 31/42/35 mpg (city/highway/combined) for Civic models with 1.5L turbo and CVT and 31/41/35 mpg for models with the 2.0L engine and CVT.

The Civic LX and EX trims are powered by the new 2.0L i-VTEC engine. Civic models powered by the new turbocharged 1.5L engine are designated as the EX-T, EX-L (with leather-trimmed interior) and the new Civic Touring.

Its new ACE body structure comes with a crash stroke design for improved collision performance in a more compact front frame design.

Honda updated the Civic's chassis with multi-link independent rear suspension, agile handling assist brake torque vectoring for cornering precision and stability, and dual pinion electric power steering with variable gear ration for improved steering and maneuverability.

For the Civic's interior, the automaker added a display audio touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, comfort and convenience features including remote engine start, smart entry with push button start, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. 

Safety features include the addition of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies, an ultra-rigid 590-mpa high-strength steel floor for enhanced collision performance. The Honda Civic comes in five trim levels.
