Toyota Motor Sales USA is recalling approximately 310 2016 model-year Tacoma pickup trucks because the wrong type of bolt may have been used to attach the driver knee air bag module.
“The involved vehicles are equipped with a driver’s knee air bag module that is attached to the instrument panel reinforcement by four bolts,” Toyota said in a released statement. “There is a possibility that incorrect bolts were installed during vehicle assembly at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California plant. This could result in the bolts loosening over time. A loosened bolt could affect the performance of the knee air bag, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.”
To remedy the problem, Toyota dealers will replace the bolts.
Vehicle owners can reach Toyota at (800) 331-4331.
