Audi has selected SiriusXM to power the next generation of its connectivity suite, which will add new safety and vehicle tracking services.

The 2017 Audi Q7 will be the first vehicle to include the upgraded Audi Connect suite when it goes on sale in early 2016. It will also be available on vehicles with the Audi Connect second generation system, including the 2017 A4, according to a release.

SiriusXM's Connected Vehicle Services will give Audi connect an emergency response function that will serve as part of the SOS call in Audi vehicles. Owners will receive automatic notifications of an airbag deployment and SiriusXM will assess the situation and oversee the 911 response.

In the event of an injury or other physical ailment, drivers can also request emergency assistance manually. The SOS button will be located in the overhead console.

The vehicle owner can also use the updated Audi Connect system to contact SiriusXM if their vehicle is stolen to report and track the vehicle while they file a police report.

Additionally, the upgraded suite of services will allow owners to request roadside assistance, service reminders, and remotely direct their vehicles via a mobile application.
