With Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s an appropriate time to think about what we’re thankful for – family, friends and health are at the top of the list for most. But when it comes to aspects of our work life, there are also reasons to give thanks.
In this column we routinely discuss how material handling equipment is a critical part of operations that help ensure the timely, accurate, cost effective movement of goods. Proper management of your material handling equipment can have an impact on the efficiency metrics of the entire business.
Below are just a few of the reasons why we’re grateful for material handling equipment:
o Properly spec’d assets can help provide a safer operating environment for associates working in and around your facilities where material handling equipment is utilized
o A well-maintained fleet can make for a happy customer. Limiting downtime of your assets and insuring you are maximizing utilization of each asset not only helps in getting products produced and/or shipped but does so at a minimum cost to the company, contributing to the overall price competitiveness of the merchandise
o Operation of material handling assets, whether one item or a large fleet, is a crucial component of a company’s ability to compete both domestically and on a global scale
Being part of this industry undoubtedly comes with challenges in addition to rewards. Solving those challenges enhances our companies and our customers benefit from these efforts. It’s a wonderful time of year to reflect on our involvement in such an exciting, dynamic and critical part of the business process.
