Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 809 2014 model-year E350 and E350 4Matic vehicles to address a fuel feed line problem that might lead to stalling or pose a fire risk, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The vehicles at issue were manufactured June 4-July 9 in 2014. They were built with a fuel feed line that has a single flare fitting instead of a double flare fitting, NHTSA said. Because of the incorrect flare fitting, the connection between the fuel hose and fuel feed line might develop a leak or completely disconnect.

Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire, NHTSA noted. What’s more, if the fuel feed line disconnects, the vehicle would stall and increase the likelihood of a crash.

Dealers will install the correct fuel line, free of charge, to fix the problem. This recall is expected to begin in early January.

Vehicle owners can reach Mercedes-Benz customer service at (800) 367-6372.
