Nissan Recalls Rogue SUVs for Shifting Flaw

Nissan North America is recalling 33,880 2015 model-year Rogue SUVs because of a problem with the shift selector knob, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Drivers may be able to shift out of the “park” position without depressing the brake pedal – a condition that fails to conform to federal safety standards, NHTSA said. This could lead to the vehicle unexpectedly rolling, creating a crash risk.

The recall covers vehicles manufactured from Feb. 10 to May 13 of this year. Nissan dealers will perform an inspection and replace the shift selector knob if needed. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is expected to begin this month.

Vehicle owners can reach Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
