Two views from the independent road

Joe-Bielucki-Kenworth-T800-unloading-steel

Some kind of Kenworth, isn’t it? And a great scene, one of two that came in this morning from operators around the nation that, well, express something we no doubt don’t hear enough amid the shouting and worry that can be debate about the news and future of the industry — that’s joy, simply put, in memories of the past, satisfaction at a job well done in the present, and hope for the future.

That’s Connecticut-based Joe Bielucki’s KW, by the way, a 2004 T800 I first wrote about in 2013 on the occasion of his taking his then 17-year-old niece, Paige, out on a haul. The rig is pictured in front of a building in Taunton, Mass.

Hope for the next generation

Connecticut-based owner-operator Joe Bielucki's story of taking his niece out on a run with him gives him hope for the future.

Bielucki unloaded steel “in the road” by the building, he said, which may have been an old factory, and “into a warehouse on the opposite side of the road.”

All of it, Bielucki added, served as a nice “reminder of days gone by.”

Zach-Beadle-Peterbilt-radiator-maintenance

This is no doubt a different sort of picture but no less joyous, from independent Zach Beadle out of Texas. Until this morning, he’d been down a couple weeks for some needed maintenance on the unit, the last part of which (pictured) had held him up longer than expected through the Thanksgiving holiday.

“I took this picture this morning as the radiator was going in,” he wrote early today. “Just couldn’t resist since it’s the best news I’ve had in 16 days.”

He’ll be back at the business of moving cattle, hay, feed and fertilizer straight away, and that’s a great feeling indeed, no doubt.
