Gasoline Slips Lower to $1.914 Per Gallon

The national average price of a gallon of gasoline declined 8.2 cents to $1.914 per gallon for the week ending Jan. 18, according to federal data.

The average price of gasoline is now 15.2 cents lower than it was a year ago, and regional average prices fell in nine zones tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Gasoline fell sharply on the West Coast with a 10.7-cent decline to $2.523 for the week. The Midwest price fell 10.9 cents to $1.712.

California and Hawaii again are the only states that now have gasoline prices above $2.50 at $2.753 and $2.634 respectively. Only 10 other states and the District of Columbia have gasoline above $2. The nation's cheapest gasoline is sold in average in Oklahoma at $1.587 per gallon.

Meanwhile, the average price of diesel fell 6.5 cents to $2.112 for the week. The price is 82.1 cents lower than it was a year ago.
