General Motors is recalling 90 2016 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks because their air bags might not deploy properly during a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The recall covers trucks manufactured Oct. 13-14 in 2015. In these vehicles, the mounting stud that secures the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) may be incorrectly positioned. As a result, the SDM housing might fracture and allow water to penetrate the SDM. This condition could lead to module malfunction and hinder proper air bag deployment, NHTSA said.

To resolve the problem, dealers will have the mounting stud repositioned and the SDM replaced, free of charge. Vehicle owners can reach Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020 or GMC customer service at (800) 462-8782. GM’s number for this recall is 15794.
