XL Hybrids, Inc. has been named to the 2015 Global Cleantech 100 Ones to Watch list that's produced by Cleantech Group, whose mission is to connect corporations to sustainable innovation through its i3 Connect platform and global events.
The Ones to Watch list seeks to highlight a group of up-and-coming companies that are catching the eye of leading players in the market. They are companies who did not quite have enough market support to make the 2015 Global Cleantech 100 list itself, and who have never been on a previous Global Cleantech 100 list, but who clearly carry pockets of strong support among key corporations, investors, and Cleantech Group analysts within the Cleantech Group's expert panel, according to XL Hybrids.
This year, a record number of nominations for the annual Global Cleantech 100 list were received, including 6,900 companies from 60 countries. These companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 323 companies. Short-listed nominees were reviewed by Cleantech Group's expert panel, resulting in the Ones to Watch list, in addition to annual the Global Cleantech 100 list. To qualify for the both lists, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
XL Hybrids initially offered hybrid electric powertrains for Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana and Ford E-Series vans.
XL Hybrids has added additional vehicle platforms, including Ford E-350 and E-450 chassis that expands XL Hybrids' offering from class 2 vans to include popular class 3-4 truck configurations. The hybrid electric powertrain is designed for commercial vehicles, including utility, landscaper, walk-in van bodies and shuttle buses with a 14,500-pound gross vehicle weight.
The company also offers a Reach commercial van from Isuzu and Utilimaster that's the first diesel-powered vehicle with the XL3 powertrain for national delivery service companies, public sector and corporate fleets seeking ways to reduce fuel consumption and meet sustainability goals.
The company offers a hybrid-electric Ford Transit van that allows fleets to increase fuel economy and boost low-end torque, while enhancing sustainability on Ford's top-selling new van platform.
Lastly, the company's GM 3500/4500 Cutaway/Cab Chassis is a new product that allows universities, transit agencies and for-hire transportation companies that use small shuttle buses to easily cut fuel costs while supporting sustainability efforts.
