Ericsson and Scania Partner on Connected Commercial Vehicles

Ericsson and Scania will collaborate on research efforts to improve the connectivity of commercial vehicles and infrastructure, the companies announced at Mobile World Congress.

The companies believe that advances in communications technologies and deployment of 5G networks have created opportunities for dedicated vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, which they said will improve the transportation of people and cargo.

Platooning concepts utlized by Scania for its trucks and trailers will benefit greatly with improved with advancements in communications technologies, the companies said.
