FCA US is recalling 184 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans in the 2015 and 2016 model years because the vehicle windshields might dislodge in the event of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
Some windshields may have been installed with expired urethane primer, and as a result fail to conform with all federal safety standards, NHTSA said.
“A routine inspection of two vehicles found their windshields did not conform to FCA US standards for proper adhesion,” FCA US said in a released statement. “A subsequent investigation discovered a small number of additional vehicles may exhibit a similar condition because their windshields may have been installed with an expired bonding agent.”
The automaker noted it’s unaware of any injuries, accidents or complaints related to the issue. Dealers will replace the windshields, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on March 4.
The recall also covers an estimated 65 vehicles in Canada and three outside the NAFTA region, FCA US said.
Vehicle owners can reach the FCA US customer care center at (800) 853-1403. The number for this recall is S02.
