Most truckers favor delay in Supreme Court appointment

In the wake of Justice Scalia’s death, should the nomination/confirmation process for his replacement proceed before or after this fall’s election?

Though reports are now suggesting President Obama is unlikely to pass over the opportunity to appoint a replaced for deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Overdrive readers’ voting the poll above over the past week shows a substantial majority favors Obama ceding that opportunity to the next President — or at least waiting until the election is over and done with.

Confirmation of Obama’s eventual nominee by the Republican-controlled Senate is no guarantee, however, as noted some readers have noted. Letting the process play out as it might in any other year, with the President nominating a replacement the Senate would then have to confirm via hearings and a vote, was the choice of almost 4 in 10 readers.
