Acura is refreshing its three-row MDX mid-size SUV for 2017, and will introduce a hybrid model as the third with the nameplate. Acura showed the vehicle at the New York International Auto Show.
The 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid will use the three-motor SH-AWD powertrain, following the NSX and RLX sedan. The vehicle is powered by a 3.0L V-6 wtih variable cylinder management that's mated to a 7-speed duel clutch transmission. Two electric motors provide power to the rear wheels.
The powertrain should produce 325 hp for a 35-hp increase over the non-hybrid model. The MDX Sport Hybrid should provide 25 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, an estimated 7-mpg city fuel economy increase over the (non-hybrid) MDX with SH-AWD.
