Volkswagen and its Porsche unit are recalling 800,477 2011-2016 model-year Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUVs globally so dealers can inspect the pedal bracket to make sure a clip hasn’t become dislodged and loosened the pedal.

If needed, dealers will reinstall the clip to resolve the problem, the automakers said. The recall was described as a "purely precautionary measure."

The pedal issue was spotted during internal inspections and remedied in production. There have been no reports of related accidents or injuries, the automakers added.
