Volkswagen's 2017 Golf Alltrack is ready for the U.S. market, as the automaker plans to debut a production model of the all-wheel-drive Golf SportWagen at the New York International Auto Show this week.
The Golf Alltrack will arrive in the fall based on its VW relative with an extra inch of ground clearance, body cladding, and an off-road mode with hill descent control and optimized traction control. The vehicle adds VW's 4MOTION AWD system.
The Golf Alltrack shares with its Golf brethren the EA888 1.4L four-cylinder TSI gasoline engine that makes 170 hp and 199 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine delivers power via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. VW will eventually offer a 6-speed manual.
Available driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking.
