Hyundai Hoping to Speed Up Data Tranfers in Cars

Hyundai Motor America is working with Cisco, an IT and network equipment supplier, to fast-track its connected car technology. The automaker will focus on the next generation of in-vehicle networks at the core of connected car technology.

The working partnership is part of the automaker's expanded effort to create a connected car platform by collaborating with prominent tech companies, according to a release.

The technology will not only transmit and receive data faster, but also allow each subsystem inside the vehicle to communicate more effectively.

The companies will collaborate to create a testing environment for vehicle simulation. And, they will cooperate on basic research to analyze the flow of data and verify new technologies for connected cars. The automaker will also invest in cloud, big data analytics, and connected car security technologies, according to Hyundai Motor America.

“Future connected cars will open new innovations in quality, safety, and security, as never before,” said Euisun Chung, vice chairman of Hyundai Motor. "This collaboration will be a chance to bring closer the Hyundai Motor-led future of connected cars and shift paradigms of new mobility."

Hyundai Motor America recently outlined its Connected Car Roadmap, introducing four main service fields as part of its “Hyper-connected Intelligent Cars” concept.
