FCA Recalls Seat Covers for Ram Trucks

FCA US is recalling 487 aftermarket Mopar canvas seat covers — used in 2012-2016 model-year Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks — because they can impede the deployment of the seat thorax air bags.

As a result, the seat thorax air bags “may not provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of an injury,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported on its website.

The recall gets under way June 30. FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) will notify vehicle owners and advise them to remove and return the front seat covers for a full refund.

Owners can reach Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403. The number for this recall is S30.
