Kia Motors America is recalling 7,901 2016 model-year Sorento SUVs because a component of the rear suspension may not be properly welded, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“The improper weld may break, affecting the rear suspension alignment, thereby increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA said on its website.
Dealers will inspect the welds at the rear suspension cross-member and, if necessary, replace the rear cross-member assembly. There will be no charge for this service.
The recall began July 27. Vehicle owners can reach Kia at (800) 333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC137.
