General Motors is recalling 367,808 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain compact SUVs in the 2013 model year because their windshield wipers might become inoperative, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
In these vehicles, the ball joints in the windshield wiper module may corrode and wear over time, possibly leading to wiper malfunction. This condition, NHTSA said, might reduce the driver’s visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
GM is still in the process of developing a remedy for the problem, so the automaker hasn’t yet provided a notification schedule for the recall. Vehicle owners, however, can reach Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020 or GMC customer service at (800) 462-8782. GM’s number for this recall is 25302.
