Automotive Fleet Professional Fleet Manager of the Year for 2015 Brenda Davis, fleet commodity manager for Baker Hughes, recently presented a $5,000 scholarship check donated by the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) to, Michael Weeks, Ph.D., dean of the Archie W. Dunham College of Business at Houston Baptist University. The university will use the $5,000 to support undergraduate scholarships at the business school.
“It was a real pleasure being able to present these funds to a faith-based university, with classes on business ethics that, I believe, will aid any student going into the business world,” said Davis, who manages a fleet of more than 16,500 vehicles and pieces of motorized equipment.
The scholarship is provided by AFLA, which is a co-sponsor of the AF Professional Fleet Manager of the Year award, and is provided to each year’s recipient to distribute to an academic program of his or her choice.
The AF Professional Fleet Manager of the Year Award was created by Automotive Fleet to recognize an experienced and proficient fleet manager who has demonstrated special business acumen in developing and executing key management policies in all areas. To be eligible, nominees must be full-time commercial fleet managers, control a company-owned or leased fleet in excess of 100 cars and light trucks combined, and be recognized nationally among their peers for their unique abilities and accomplishments. The award is presented by Automotive Fleet annually, and is sponsored by Wheels Inc. and AFLA.
