Featured Partner: Boudreau Pipeline

boudreau-01

We recently sat down with Boudreau Pipeline, a Downs Energy customer since 20XX.

Tell us about the history of Boudreau Pipeline.

It all started with a single backhoe as an owner-operator in 1996. Alan Boudreau worked with his father doing plumbing and underground since 1988. When his dad decided to close his doors in 1996, Alan bought one of his backhoes and started his own work as an owner operator. He worked 80-90hrs per week for close to a year for a contractor down in the port of Long Beach. When that project was finished, he continued to work for different contractors until one contractor asked him to bid on a housing project underground job. Alan bid the project, got the job, hired a couple employees and this was the beginning of Boudreau Pipeline. The company’s office was inside his bedroom at his house where his wife Christie Boudreau ran all the books and office. Eventually, their work moved out of the house and into a 1200sf warehouse in Anaheim. In 2003, Alan and Christie bought a 14,000sf building in Corona and has made Corona home ever since. They grew from 1 employee to about 60 employees before the downturn in 2008, which almost had them starting from scratch again. A great management team, perseverance and lots of sleepless nights got them through those difficult years. The recession had taken its toll, it took 4 years to get back to the same level as 2007. The year 2012 had brought about some momentum and launched them into a growth mode that hasn’t stopped since. Their team is now up to 270+ and growing as we speak. They credit their highly talented management team and all of their team members for their ability to navigate the rapid growth over the last few years. Bill McMains, Dave Reynolds, Ron Jacobson and Paul Russo have been instrumental in the TEAM’s success. Next year will be 20 years since that first project and hired their first employee, Abel Macias, who is still on the team! We all can’t wait to see what the next 20 years will look like.

What is your value proposition and what sets you apart from your competition?

We pride ourselves at our core on always having a can-do attitude and the willingness to get the job done right the first time. We are among one of the largest wet utility contractors in Southern California with a team of 8 estimators having the bandwidth to not only bid, but also produce a budgeting proforma and resources for our clients; 10 highly detailed employees for our project management team; over forty Foreman to lead our field teams, and a total of 270+ talented individuals. With this manpower, we are able to provide multiple crews for our projects which reduce the schedule for our clients, saving them time and money. We also support the building industry by joining and actively participating in many different associations such as BIASC, CBIA, NAHB, NAIOP, AGC and ABC.

“It is always a pleasure doing business with Downs. Their customer service department rocks!”

Can you tell us about your Community, Civic or Charitable involvement?

Active involvement with our local communities and charities are very important to us. We wholeheartedly believe in giving back by sponsoring our employee’s family and children’s sports teams and youth programs throughout the year as well as sponsoring various American Cancer Society events such as their Relay for Life. We are also very intertwined with HomeAid Orange County and Inland Empire, a charity that strives to end homelessness by building and renovating shelters. HomeAid also directs many essential drives and events throughout the year to collect additional items for the families they serve. One of our favorites to participate in, is their Builders for Babies drive where they collect over a million diapers to assist families in need! Boudreau Pipeline donates a “bucket full” of diapers and personally delivers it. You can check it out in the video here!

Lastly, the Interval House is another charity that has been near and dear to our hearts since 2004. BPC donates their time and resources to restoring and monitoring the upkeep of utilities underneath the Interval Houses. Our support doesn’t just stop there! We are always open to new ways to support the local charities and add to our growing list each year.
