Toyota is recalling 7,589 2016-model year Prius cars because an air bag inflator manufacturing error might inadvertently trigger the partial inflation of the front-passenger air bag, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Prius vehicles involved were manufactured from Nov. 30, 2015, to June 14, 2016.
“A front passenger air bag that unintentionally inflates can increase the risk of a crash or injury,” NHTSA warned on its website.
Toyota dealers will replace the front-passenger air bag assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Nov. 13.
Vehicle owners can reach Toyota customer service at (800) 331-4331. Toyota’s number for this recall is G0W.
