Altec Industries is recalling 219 2014- and 2015-model year A65, A70, A75, A72-T, A77-T, and A82-T aerial devices, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
These aerial devices were manufactured from April 15, 2014, to Oct. 15, 2015. They have a fiberglass cover over the boom tip that may have an improperly sized opening, NHTSA said. As a result, the opening may allow the exposed metal tip of the boom to contact an electrically energized conductor, such as an overhead wire.
This condition raises the risk of injury to the boom operator, NHTSA warned.
Altec dealers will replace any boom tip cover that has an improperly sized opening, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Nov. 2.
