Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner Recalled for Fuel Leaks

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 329,018 2010- to 2012-model year Ford Escape and 2010- to 2011-MY Mercury Mariner vehicles in the U.S., so dealers can replace the fuel delivery module flange assembly.

All the vehicles involved have a 3.0-liter engine.

In the recalled vehicles, the fuel delivery module fuel supply port might develop a crack, causing a possible fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire, Ford warned in a released statement about the recall.

Ford noted, however, the company isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

The recall includes certain Escape vehicles built at Kansas City Assembly Plant from Feb. 26, 2009 to April 29, 2012, and Mercury Mariner vehicles built at Kansas City Assembly Plant from Feb. 25, 2009 to Dec. 12, 2010.

In addition to the 329,018 vehicles affected in the U.S., 69,576 vehicles in Canada will be recalled for the same reason. A total of 7,477 vehicles will be recalled in Mexico. There are also 247 vehicles being recalled in federalized territories.

Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module flange assembly at no cost to the customer, Ford said.
