Honda is adding a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine to its CR-V for 2017 — the first such engine to power the compact SUV.
The 2017 CR-V's turbo should make 190 hp in a fuel-efficient package that Honda expects to top the compact SUV segment. While Honda will offer the turbo with the EX trim, it will continue to offer its 2.4L direct-injected inline-four with the LX trim.
The CR-V will enter its fifth generation in 2017 that will also bring an upgraded Display Audio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a more premium interior with increased rear-seat legroom and increased cargo space.
Honda is also adding its safety and driver-assistive Honda Sensing package as standard equipment on EX and higher trims.
