Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Fuel Economy Rises After EPA Testing

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid offers a range and fuel economy that surpasses manufacturer estimates, according to ratings from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The Pacifica Hybrid offers 566 miles of driving range, which is 6.8% above the 530 miles initially announced by Fiat-Chrysler. The EPA rated the vehicle at 84 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) and gave it a 10 rating in its Green Vehicle Guide. FCA has estimated the gasoline-electric minivan would achieve 80 MPGe.

Charging and fueling the vehicle should cost about $900 per year, according the the EPA.

The Pacifica Hybrid combines a gasoline-powered 3.6L V-6, pair of electric motors, and 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Charging the vehicle takes about 2 hours using a 240-volt (Level 2) circuit or 14 hours with 120-volt (Level 1) charging. The vehicle comes with a standard Level 1 charger.

FCA implemented eFlite EVT technology to increase efficiency of the minivan by using two electric motors and a one-way clutch.

The base model Pacifica Hybrid costs $34,495 after the federal tax credit and before state or local incentives.
