Volvo Cars is rolling out updates to its S90 sedan, XC90 luxury SUV and V90 station wagon in Europe that include a diesel engine, a slippery road alert, and Android Auto, the automaker has announced.

Volvo will begin offering its D3 four-cylinder diesel that's coupled with a new manual 6-speed transmission or existing automatic 6-speed transmission coupled with available all-wheel drive. When paired with the flagship S90 sedan, the engine will reduce carbon-dioxide emissions to 114 grams per kilogram.

Volvo will also offer a slippery road alert and hazard light alert that use cloud-based technology to share safety data between vehicles. The 90-series cars will not include over-the-air navigation updates so the vehicles' maps are always up to date.

Android Auto will become a standard feature for smartphone integration. Volvo already offers Apply CarPlay.

The updated models would likely be offered in the 2017 model year and are going into production this month.
