Volvo is recalling about 74,000 2016- and 2017-model year S60, S90, V60, VC60, and XC90 vehicles in the U.S. because of a potential problem with passenger seat belt buckle bolts, Fortune magazine reported.
The seat belts in these vehicles might fail to adequately protect the seat occupant during a crash.
Many of the cars are still in the hands of dealers. They will inspect each recalled vehicle to make sure the seat belt buckle is working properly. Such an inspection takes less than a couple minutes, a Volvo spokesman told Fortune.
Volvo informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the recall on Oct. 28.
